"An old, old story of love fierce but pure."

Well I finally finished some art work to post to my blog. Last week was a terrible week, as far as finding time to make art goes! I didn't manage to post to Illustration Friday's theme "hoard". I had a thousand ideas and started a piece, but I didn't have a hope of getting it finished. This week I got on top of things straight away.
This piece was created on a black journal page with acrylic paints, acrylic fluid, pencil drawing, gel pen and felt pen. Then it was tweaked on the computer. I painted the fire ball at the start and it took me ages to decide to put the heart in the centre. I was toying with fierce human eyes, then fierce wolf eyes, then a cartoon style super hero. Then I thought of fierce love and the rest was history.
I have just finished a four part drawing course that we did hardly any drawing in (traditional drawing that is). We drew with fat markers, collaged with marked paper. It was an experience that has opened me to drawing with texture, not just with line. You use the line to just pull it together. I'm sure it will help me with my collage work as well as with my drawing. Thankyou Paula Taaffe for your wonderful attitude to and your infectious optimism with art.

Love the texture, gives a great feeling of heat & I can almost see the heartbeat!
powerful piece filled with heat and energy !!!
Powerful! I agree with nicky, you can almost see, not to mention hear the heartbeat.
I also enjoyed reading about the creative process behind it.
THis is lovely! Beautiful colors - beautifully done.
When I saw the image I thought "that's an intriguing technique, wonder how it was done?"-- then I read the description! Thanks for the
tutorial, & I think you made the perfect choice with the heart.
Fierce love is such a great take on the theme. Your technique is interesting and inspiring. well done.
Wow,this is so great!!!
This is such a novel, powerful take on the topic. Great concept and texture. Thanks for leaving a comment so I could come here and see this!
That's a fierce, yet transparent heart muscle. Your use of texture really gives the lines impact. It fills me with joy to see someone be a tad more experimental in these art communities.
I have fond memories of Hawke's Bay, of Napier and swimming in the surfs (fierce indeed)
A wonderfully eye catching piece! The way it draws the eye into the 'heart' of the drawing is excellent. I also love the textures, I wish I could run my hand across it. Very well done indeed!
I love how the heart came out, and the background is amazing. Great use of color, very unique piece.
